Thought For Today: “Will We Be As Faithful”

David was running for his life. King Saul had gone over the edge and was using his vast resources to hunt down and kill David, even though David had done nothing to him.

Now David had his chance to strike back. Saul was vulnerable but David remained faithful and never raised his hand against God’s anointed. David took the high road.

“May the Lord repay every man for his righteousness and his faithfulness, for the Lord delivered you into my hand today, but I would not stretch out my hand against the Lord’s anointed.” (1 Samuel 26:23)

David knew that it was wrong to repay evil for evil, and so when the chance came David remained faithful to God and to His word, knowing that God would reward his faithfulness.

Are we as faithful? What if we believe someone has done us wrong. Would we retaliate in kind? Will we do wrong because we think they did wrong to us? Will we start a campaign of vengeance against them to wreck and kill their reputation?

Or will we take the high road like David resting assured that God will reward our faithfulness? Will we be as faithful?
