Thought For Today: “The Hardest Thing to Say”
Whenever this topic arises, that is, what is the hardest thing to say, the usual answers are, “I’m sorry,” “It’s my fault,” or “Forgive me.
Now, while these are hard, I have come to realize that they are not the hardest thing to say, or to do. The hardest thing for a believer to say and then do is what the Apostle Paul had the guts to not only say, but to live out.
He said, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 11:1)
As believers in Jesus Christ, we are to be His disciples, that is, we are to be His followers, not just imitators. Being a believer in Jesus Christ is about letting Jesus live in us and through us. That is when others will see Jesus in our actions and speech.
Jesus said, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” (Luke 9:23)
The example that Jesus gives is first it needs to be a desire, then a denial, a dying, and finally having our identity in Him.
