Thought For Today: “Persistent Prayers”
Persistence in anything calls for a person to continue until the end. In prayer, persistence is continuing in prayer until we have God’s answer. But such prayer is difficult, which is why Jesus continued to encourage his disciples to pray.
“Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.” (Luke 18:1)
Discouragement seems to mark our prayer life where we give up long before we should. Instead, like Jacob, we need to lay hold of God and not let go, no matter what. The prophet Isaiah says this very thing about God’s people.
“And there is no one who calls on Your name, who stirs himself up to take hold of You.” (Isaiah 64:7a)
So, let’s stir up our spirits to take hold of God. We need to possess this never give up refusing to quit faith that will persist in prayer and lay hold of God’s kingdom.
