God’s Light Needed

Today’s 333 Devotional: “God’s Light Needed”

When dawn comes the light isn’t great, but it is sufficient enough to navigate. But as the day proceeds, the sun continues to get brighter bringing light to everyone.

Such is the path and the light emanating from those who follow the Lord. At the beginning, it isn’t great or bright, but the longer we walk in the light of Jesus Christ, the brighter we’ll shine for Him.

Proverbs 4:18 says, “The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.”

Solomon is comparing the way of the wicked to that of the righteous, and the way of the wicked is darkness, and because they walk in darkness, they haven’t the faintest clue as to why they stumble and fall.

So bad is this way that Solomon tells us to avoid it at all costs.

So where does the light come from to help us walk upon the path of righteousness? It comes from the Holy Spirit enlightening God’s word to our minds and hearts.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

How long will we need to walk upon God’s path of righteousness? It’s until we reach heaven and that “perfect day.” And the more we walk in the light of God, the brighter that light will get to guide us along the way.

God’s word has everything we’re going to need to walk upon this path. And while psychologist do the best they can, unless God’s word is at the heart of their diagnosis, then the problems and darkness will continue.

Matthew Henry said, “There is in the word of God a proper remedy for all diseases of the soul.”

It’s God’s word that keeps our hearts straight with God because it is out of our hearts that all issues of life emanate (Proverbs 4:23).

So, walk in the light of God’s word, and you’ll find the light needed to navigate life.
