Thought For Today: “Give With the Right Attitude”
When we give unto God it needs to be done with the right attitude.
“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)
God doesn’t need our money. God owns it all anyway, so our money really isn’t ours to begin with, it’s His. He just gave it to us to use for a while, and then He’s going to give it to someone else. What’s in your pocket today will be in someone else’s pocket tomorrow. The money we have, whether a little or a lot is really on loan from God.
What God wants is our hearts. He wants what our money represents. Most people spend their entire life thinking about money. They plan for it, save it, spend it, worry about it, invest it, and use it. It’s such a major part of their lives, and that’s the part God wants to occupy. The Bible says that where our treasures is, that’s where we’ll find our hearts (Matthew 6:21).
