A Scripture and a Prayer: “Foolish Anger”
“Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools.” (Ecclesiastes 7:9)
Prayer:
Lord, You say in Your word what while anger is a part of life, we aren’t to sin in our anger. Instead, You say we are to get rid of it. But How? What I love is that You don’t leave us hanging but You tell us that the road that leads away from anger is paved with kindness, goodness, gentleness, compassion, patience, and most importantly, forgiveness (Ephesians 4:31-32). Therefore, Lord, when we start getting angry at others, help us to slow our roll and seek Your guidance, because we may be getting angry at the wrong thing, that is, the person rather than at the sin or the spiritual forces of wickedness that lies behind it. And then, help us fast-track Your forgiveness towards them as You have forgiven us. And all of this I ask in Jesus’s name. AMEN
