Thought for Today: “Watchmen Needed”
“I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore, hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me.” (Ezekiel 3:17)
Never has the need been greater than it is right now for God’s watchmen to sound the alarm to wake up the church, to wake up sleepy and lethargic believers as to the danger that is fast approaching, instead of hanging our harps upon the willow tree because of the immensity of it all. This is brought out at the state of the people at their Babylonian captivity.
The Psalmist records for us, “By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept when we remembered Zion. We hung our harps upon the willows in the midst of it.” (Psalm 137:2)
And while there is much to lament at the losses we’ve endured over these past years, we need to instead sound the alarm for battle.
To Ezekiel the Lord said, “So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore, you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me.” (Ezekiel 33:3)
In this critical hour we need men and women of faith who will take a stand and sound the alarm, never holding their peace, but letting people know just how precarious their life may be and knowing how close the time is.
“Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die?” (Ezekiel 18:31)
