God’s Not Restrained

Today’s 333 Devotional: “God’s Not Restrained”

There’s a true saying, “God plus one equals a majority.” This has been proven out time and again throughout God’s word, and in our own life situations.

I think about Elijah as he called out Baal, the god of Ahab and Jezebel, and his 850 prophets. It was no contest; God and Elijah won hands down (1 Kings 18:16-40).

Nothing is impossible with God. It was this mindset that saw Jonathan, king Saul’s son, take on an entire Philistine garrison with only his armor bearer at his side.

He said, “Come and let us cross over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; perhaps the Lord will work for us, for the Lord is not restrained to save by many or by few.” (1 Samuel 14:6)

This is no presumptive faith. Jonathan wasn’t going unless the Lord confirmed. So, he said, “If they say wait and we’ll come to you, then we won’t move forward, but if they say, ‘Come on up,’ then we’ll know God had given them into our hand.” (1 Samuel 14:8-10)

The Philistines said come, and a great victory was won, because one man believed in God and move accordingly.

Too often we move without the Lord’s blessing. Instead, we should be open for God to move in our situation, but we need to seek out the Holy Spirit’s guidance through God’s word and prayer.

God will direct our steps when we acknowledge Him in all our ways, when we seek Him for our direction, and set our hearts on follow His word and way (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Our circumstances do not restrain or hinder God from moving; rather it’s our belief that He’s able to move on our behalf.

Jesus said, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)

God is not restrained by our circumstances, so let’s not restrain Him by our faith.
