Thought For Today: “Use Every Opportunity for God”
In the parable of the Good Samaritan Jesus said that when the Samaritan came across a man that had been mugged, he had compassion and took the time and his own money to care of him.
Jesus told this parable to answer the question posed by a lawyer of the law, who rightly answered the question as to how would inherit eternal life, which was the Great Commandment.
But then wanting to justify himself, the lawyer then asked, “Who is my neighbor?
Jesus then told this parable of how the religious leaders passed them man by, but the Samaritan, who were ostracized and looked down upon by the Jews, saw the man and used the opportunity to do good, and Jesus said this is what it means to love your neighbor as yourself (Luke 10:25-37).
The choices we make to love others are what makes the difference. Will we love, even when others don’t love us? Will our actions be grace led, or greed motivated.
The Bible says, “Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone” (Colossians 4:5-6)
