Venturing Out By Faith

Thought For Today: “Venturing Out By Faith”

Sometimes God tells us to do something that logically is nuts, that is, it doesn’t make any sense. But from God’s standpoint, it’s perfectly sane and true. All God needs is one person in harmony with His purposes, and with that person, God can do great things.

Venturing out by faith is simply making ourselves available for God to use.

But it’s not presumptuous faith. Jonathan, son of King Saul, secured a great victory with just himself and his armor bearer over the Philistine army. Jonathan’s faith in the Lord saw him tell his armor bearer, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.” (1 Samuel 14:6)

And a great victory was achieved in Israel that day.

Why do we balk when God calls us to do something different or difficult? It’s because it doesn’t make sense to our human understanding. We see the circumstances and think they are beyond our capability.

But sometimes we must come to the place where we have to face the facts that what we’re doing isn’t working. So, we have to believe in God and in His word and venture forth by faith into something new.
