New Is Not Always Better

Thought For Today: “New Is Not Always Better”

We live in a society and culture that worships the “new.” We’re always looking for and buy the “new and improved” models or products never knowing if they are going to work as good or better than what we already have.

We do this in our spiritual lives as well. God’s word and ways have always been proven faithful and true. But at the first mention of something new, some new doctrine or way to do church, we run and buy into it before we’ve even tested it.

“Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1)

We need to stick to those wells of living water that have proven themselves true rather than constantly digging new wells that either turn up dry, or worse, poisonous.

What the church must do instead of trying to be culturally relevant is reopen these wells of living water that has brought life and revival to millions in the past.

The church can be relevant in whatever culture it is in without sacrificing biblical truth.
