Thought For Today: “What Brings Revival”

One of the most common cries from believers, outside, requesting God’s forgiveness, is that God would send a revival.

The cry the Psalmist in Psalm 85 best reveals what most of us desire. He said, “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?”

This is also God’s desire, but He gives to us the heart and spirit of those that He revives.

The prophet Isaiah brings this forward saying, “For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.” (Isaiah 57:15)

A revival isn’t about a change in behavior, rather it’s a genuine heart felt and Holy Spirit generated change in our relationship with God.

Reformed behavior without a heartfelt and Holy Spirit generated change will only bring temporary relief.

Jesus said, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 3:2)
