Thought For Today: “What’s In Your Hand?”
Sometimes we’re so busy we have no time for God. And while these times may be filled with things that are good, important, or necessary, if they preoccupy us and divert our attention away from the Lord, then they are actually a hindrance.
What happens is that our ears become dull hearing only the noise of the world instead of the voice of God. We need to set our minds, that is, be attentive to God’s voice and the leading of the Holy Spirit
“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Romans 8:5-6)
The more we fill our time with the good, important, or even necessary things of this world, the less energy we’ll have for the things of God. Now, I’m not dismissing these other things, but we need to determine every day what is merely good and what is the best.
It is best to come to God with empty hands rather than with hands full of stuff.
