A Scripture and a Prayer: “A Heavenly Aroma”
“Another angel … was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand.” (Revelation 8:3-4)
Prayer:
Lord, in the Temple You commanded to be built here on earth, You had placed within an altar of incense which was representative of the people’s prayers to You offered up by the priests. And so, when the angel placed upon Your golden altar in heaven the prayers of Your people, the smoke, and hence its aroma rose before You. Therefore, Lord, may the prayers of Your people, may my prayers rise before You as that sweet aroma. But even more, may my life be a sweet aroma to You as well, as I live it out by faith in Your Son, Jesus, and the sacrifice He made on my behalf, making me right with You. AMEN
