Thought For Today: “Take Heed and Consider”
Warning: Just because we raised our hand on a Sunday morning and think now that we are saved we can do what we want and whatever our heart desires; we need to take another look and change our way of thinking. We need to reconsider our doctrine.
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? … Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.” (Romans 6:1-2, 12)
When wrong thinking about bringing the tithe into God’s house, the people didn’t think that it was all that important, but instead use what they had and earned exclusively upon themselves, and so the Lord told them to reconsider.
“Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins? … Consider your way! You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.” (Haggai 1:4-6)
And so, going back to our relationship with God, we must not be prideful in our salvation, but humble. The Bible says not to allow such arrogance to overtake us, because pride goes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18).
And so, we come to today’s scripture verse.
“Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” (1 Corinthians 10:12)
