Thought For Today: “God’s Choice is Evident to All”
“By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” (John 15:8)
After David’s anointing, and when Saul was in distress, he looked for someone to relieve him.
One of Saul’s servants said, “Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the Lord is with him.” (1 Samuel 16:18).
David became known, but not only to those around him, but also to Satan, who tried to have Saul kill David, even before He knew that God had anointed him. He would hurl a javelin at David’s head.
How are we known or thought of? Are we known by hell and thus experience Satan’s fiery darts?
When we become known to the world as followers of Christ. When we stop being fickle about our faith and start to follow Jesus in righteousness and holiness, then we can expect to be hounded by hell and to begin to dodge the spears and arrows, not of outrageous fortune, but of Satan.
That’s why we need the armor of God.
Let me add one last thing. Let’s make sure that when we are persecuted, it is for Jesus and our belief in Him, and not for what we did which was wrong.
