Thought For Today: “Bow Now Instead of Later”

To bow down is a sign of submission and humility showing deference, that is, respect and esteem to whoever and whatever we are bowing down to and before.

Bowing down is also a sign of worship, it is taking a knee recognizing the Lordship of God. Unfortunately, people have been taking a knee, that is, humbling themselves to a cause, or to a deity of their own making.

The only problem is that none of these causes, personages, or deities can save and rescue them from sin and death.

The Bible says, “For the wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23a)

And while death is the end of this life we live, it isn’t the end of life. There is an eternity, and where we spend that eternity depends on what we bow down to and before today.

“God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)

In our verse in Romans 6:23, it doesn’t stop at death as the wages of sin, but goes on to say, “But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b)

It’s all about who we’ll bow down to today. But knowing that everyone will bow their knee to Jesus Christ, isn’t better to bow now asking Him to be Savior than bowing in hell knowing we didn’t?
