Thought For Today: “A Stagnate Spirit”
Water becomes stagnate when it stops flowing and becomes unsafe to consume and a breeding ground for disease transmitting parasites and bacteria.
This is the state of Christians who become stagnate in spirit. They stop flowing in the Spirit believing the “whatever will be will be” philosophy of life. They no longer anticipate or expect God to move in their life. They’re just marking the days while going to church and “doing their time.”
Look at what the Lord says concerning their fate.
“It will come about at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the men who are stagnant in spirit, who say in their hearts, ‘The Lord will not do good or evil!’” (Zephaniah 1:12)
God’s people were living securely and at ease, turning their backs on following and seeking God. They thought nothing was ever going to change, never realizing that God was just waiting for them to turn back to Him.
To prevent stagnation, ask daily for the Holy Spirit to do His new work within you. Anticipate and expect God to do His work in your life. Get into God’s word and let God’s word get into you.
