Thought For Today: “No Pressure”

One of the main problems experienced by Christians, including leaders and pastors, is feeling like we’re not making the grade when it comes to the gifts and talents God has so given

We look at others who are doing the same thing, and it our minds they’re doing it better. But God never called us to be like them, instead He called us to be like Jesus. And so, when we compare ourselves, we are doing not only a disservice to ourselves, but also to the Lord God who called us.

The Apostle Paul addressed this in 2 Corinthians 10:12. He said, “For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”

And to make sure we are not tempted to compare he said, “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” (Philippians 2:3)

In other words, we must stop trying to be what we’re not. We can’t do it all, and God never expects us to try.

Further, Jesus already died for us, so let’s stop killing ourselves trying to be right with God.

The Lord said, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

So, all the pressures off.
