Thought For Today: “Commitment: Bowing Only To God”
Commitment is a confidence and assurance in God no matter the circumstances or outcome. Commitment is not bowing to anything or anyone except God. It’s a daily choice to choose God over all else.
We see such a commitment to God from three Jewish young men who were in captivity in Babylon, and at the potential of losing their lives, remained faithful to God.
“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, ‘O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.’” (Daniel 3:16-18)
And because of their commitment to God by not bowing their knees, that is, compromising their beliefs to save their lives, or in most of our cases, making our lives more comfortable, God delivered them, and in the process revealed Himself as being greater than any problems or circumstances they or ourselves may face.
If our trust and commitment is in and towards God, then no matter what the circumstances may be, God will give us supernatural courage to face and overcome it. So, let’s bow our knees to God and not to this world any longer.
