Thought for Today: “Cleansed and Ready”

In a vision, the prophet Isaiah was given a vision of the Lord God upon His heavenly throne. Upon seeing the Lord, Isaiah said, “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.” (Isaiah 6:5)

But God took care of Isaiah’s sin problem and his problem of feeling inadequate for the job.

And so, the Lord sent one of the seraphim to take a coal from out of the altar and to touch Isaiah’s lips. And as the angel touched Isaiah’s lips with the hot coal he said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.” (Isaiah 6:7)

With this new confidence in God’s forgiveness, Isaiah responded to God’s challenge. When the Lord said, “Who shall I sent, and who will go for Us.” Isaiah’s responded, “Here am I! send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)

Once we’ve been cleansed through belief in Jesus’s shed blood, we need to serve God’s purposes in this world.

Let’s stop running and feeling unqualified. It is the Lord who qualifies us and who gives to us the ability to do His bidding, which is the Great Commission, and that is to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:16-20).

Jesus said, “Peace be to you; just as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” (John 20:21)

Therefore, will we respond as did Isaiah?
