Searched by God

Thought of the Day: “Searched by God”

“Search and seizure” is a legal term describing law enforcement’s ability to examine a person’s home, vehicle, or business to find evidence of a crime. If evidence is found it can then be seized. Search and seizure also includes placing an individual under arrest.

But, for a search to be deemed valid and the evidence seized used in a court of law, a valid search and/or arrest warrant must be attained.

Now, thinking about how the Law of God and how we are all to present ourselves before the Judgment Seat of God, it is a far better thing to be searched by God than it is by man, because God is holy, man is not, and humanity’s judgment is flawed and prejudicial, but not so God.

This is why when facing the consequences of his sin, King David cried out, “I am in great distress. Please let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are great; but do not let me fall into the hand of man.” (2 Samuel 24:14)

Further, when we accepted Jesus as our Savior, we also accepted Him as our Lord, which means we have given Him the right to come in and search our hearts.

Therefore, let our prayer at these times be like David’s when he prayed, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23)
