Thought For Today: “Walking in God’s Will”

Walking in the will of God is multifaceted.

It begins with understanding that God’s will is supreme, that is, God’s will is above everything else, even above our own plans and purposes.

This is brought out through what the Lord said through the prophet Isaiah.

“‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,’ says the Lord. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.’” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

God’s ultimate will is for humanity to be saved.

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:3-4)

And Jesus tells us what that truth is.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

And finally, God’s will is to let the world know that this wonderful salvation can be theirs. This is known as the Great Commission

Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Therefore, to walk in God’s will is to first come into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and then let the whole world know.
