The Hope of God’s Word

Today’s 333 Devotional: “The Hope of God’s Word”

Every day we’re faced with a world designed to take away our hope. There are trials and tribulations that tax our very souls, and we wonder, “Is there any hope?”

And the answer is yes, there is hope, and the more we read God’s word, the more strength and encouragement we’ll receive to revive our hope in the Lord.

This is what the Apostle Paul brings out as he ends his letter to the Roman church.

“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)

The Scriptures were written to teach, encourage, and to give us hope to carry on. Through reading God’s word, you will receive God’s hope no matter what else is going on around you.

Our relationship with God’s word, the Bible, determines the level of hope we have. And if this is true, then we all need to take time to hide God’s word in our hearts so that we can have its hope when we need it most.

Consider these verses.

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” (Psalm 119:11)

“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7a)

“As in water face reflects face, so a man’s heart reveals the man.” (Proverbs 27:19)

And so, when we hide God’s word deep within our hearts, then we will be a people of great hope.

But if we don’t read and mediate upon God’s word, ponder it throughout the day for our lives, then we’ll know of God’s great plan to prosper us and give us a future hope.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

If we are not plugged into God’s word, then we’ll miss His great hope for our lives.
