Today’s 333 Devotional: “Wisdom Begins In Your Heart”

Great wisdom only comes from a heart that matches and exceeds the intellect. In fact, all wisdom proceeds from the heart. Solomon, the wisest of all men said that the way a person thinks in their heart that is who and what they will become (Proverbs 23:7).

This was the case with Solomon. While God gave Solomon great wisdom, understanding, and knowledge beyond what can be measured by the standard IQ test, a matching heart supported it.

“And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore.” (1 Kings 4:29)

But man’s wisdom can be used for both good and evil.

Jesus said, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45)

And so, both good and evil springs from our heart, and with our heart being deceitful and desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9), how can we make sure only good proceeds from our actions and lips?

It starts with love, our love for God and for one another. In fact, our love for one another is the way we show God how much we love Him.

Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39)

So, it doesn’t matter how much you may know, or how this universe works, if it isn’t matched by your love for God and one another, then it will turn out for evil instead of good.

Therefore, fall in love with God and turn your heart over to Him today, and you will be like what God saw in Solomon, and possess the wisdom of God.
