Thought for Today: “When Faith Begins”
Many say that faith begins where worry ends. But the truth is that faith begins when we come to the end of ourselves and begin trusting God instead.
Faith begins when we say, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” (Galatians 2:20)
Further, faith begins to dawn and grow when we admit our lack of it.
This is what the father of the demon possess son said when Jesus asked if He believed.
He said, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
Therefore, in the end it takes courage to have such faith. But understand that courage isn’t the absence of fear; rather it’s moving forward in spite of our fear.
In the same vein, “Faith is not the absence of doubt, rather it’s the courage to believe despite our doubts.
To Joshua as he was about to lead the nation of Israel into the Promised Land, the Lord said, “Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them.” (Joshua 1:6)
And so, faith begins to dawn as our doubts and fears begin to fade.
