Thought For Today: “Faith Goes Beyond Reason”
Sometimes having faith when we cannot see, touch, or hear it for ourselves is tough. But this is the faith that can move mountains and can see what we thought was impossible, to be possible.
Abraham and Sarah exemplify this perfectly. While Abraham remained childless, with he and Sarah being beyond childbearing years, Abraham believed in God’s promise even though everything would seem to dictate otherwise.
And what this tells us is that this type of faith is what pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). Therefore, our faith in God needs to go beyond human reason.
It says of Abraham, “And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.” (Genesis 15:6)
And in his letter to the church in Rome, Paul said, “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’” (Romans 4:18)
And so, our faith needs to go beyond our understanding. In fact, our faith needs to go beyond right here and now. It needs to extend into the future and an eternity with God. Faith is our hope in God’s future for our lives.
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)
And so, by faith let’s believe more in God than in anything or anyone else.
