Today’s 333 Devotional: “Keep On Praying”
It is by faith in God’s word and in His promises that the answer to our prayer is supplied.
Jesus deals with this reasoning in His parable of the unjust judge.
“Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart … Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:1, 8b)
When our prayers remain unanswered it is often easier to stop praying because we believe that God may have a reason for withholding His answer.
Yet we see a different story with Abraham who waited years for the promise of a son to be fulfilled.
“Who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” (Romans 4:18)
The question is why does it take so long sometimes for God’s answer to come?
Maybe it might be best to think in terms of sowing and reaping. It takes time for the seed to germinate and grow into what it was meant to be and then harvested.
Our heavenly Father plants the seed of His word and promise into our hearts, but only He knows and moment when our soul, by faith, is ready to receive the blessing. Only God knows when that seed of promise is ready for harvest.
And it is faith in God’s promises, believing God at His word that grows our soul and spirit into that place of receipt.
However, there is a danger when we start inserting our thoughts into God’s promises thinking that maybe it may not be God’s will. Please know that if God gave the promise, then it is His will for our life.
Therefore, as we begin this new year, let’s give God time to exercise into our lives the fullness of His presence and promises to fulfill His purpose. He is not only willing but is anxious to provide.
