Today’s 333 Devotional: “God’s Medium for Grace and Mercy”
“Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.” (Romans 5:20)
• Even though we in our sin sought to dethrone the Lord God of creation from our hearts and walk according to the dictates and course of this world.
• Even though we chose to walk according to the lusts of the flesh and were as such children of wrath.
• Even though we were God’s enemies and alienated from Him though our ever-increasing sin nature.
God’s grace and mercy has abounded through Jesus Christ and the sacrifice He made for our sins so we shall one day see God face to face and enjoy communion forever with Him in heaven.
“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” (Ephesians 2:13)
Because of the enormity of our sin, God makes all grace and mercy abound towards us though Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the medium, therefore, by which His grace and mercy is extended towards us.
“Having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” (Ephesians 1:5-7)
The curse of the law has been removed through Jesus’s sacrifice as He became that curse for us upon the cross (Galatians 3:13).
And so, what the law couldn’t accomplish has been secured through Jesus Christ. What the law couldn’t accomplish through the blood of bulls and goats, Jesus’s blood secures making perfect forever those who come to belief in Him (Hebrews 10).
“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17)
Jesus Christ, therefore, is the medium by which God pours out His exceeding grace and mercy.
