Thought For Today: “God Provided Light”

God provides every form of light we as human beings need. He provides physical light in giving to us the sun to shine down and bring light to this earth, but He also has provided spiritual light, in His Son, Jesus Christ.

In the beginning God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” (Genesis 1:3)

But the light that God brought forth wasn’t the sun. God created the sun on the fourth day. It says in Genesis 1:16, “God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night.”

So, what was the light that God told to shine on that very first day. It was the light of Jesus Christ, the “Light of the World.”

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

And in quoting the prophecy of the coming Messiah from Isaiah 9:2, Matthew in his gospel account said, “‘The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.’ From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’” (Matthew 4:16-17)

Therefore, God has provided the light that brings forth all life, physical and spiritual, and that is His Son, Jesus Christ.
