Today’s 333 Devotional: “Fear Breaks, Faith Makes”
We all have the capacity to make or break a church’s outreach based upon what we believe.
Moses told the officers to weed out those who were afraid so that their fear wouldn’t affect the others.
“Then the officers shall add, ‘Is any man afraid or fainthearted? Let him go home so that his brothers will not become disheartened too.’” (Deuteronomy 20:8)
Fear is contagious, but with God we shouldn’t have anything to fear.
This was the Lord’s instruction to Joshua before they entered the Promised Land.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
We need to remember that our battles aren’t against people who tick us off or do hurtful things to us, but rather our battles are against the forces that are behind these actions.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
And even though Satan and his minions are a formable force, what we must realize that we’ve already won.
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
Here’s the key: Fear Breaks, Faith Makes.
The writer of Hebrews gives us this synopsis of those men and women of faith, “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again.” (Hebrews 11:33-35).
We can make or break our mission and purpose. Therefore, by faith let’s move forward in the victory and promises of God.
