Thought For Today: “The Secret for Healing”
There’s a popular saying that confession is good for the soul. This actually has its roots in the Bible, specifically James 5:16. But in reality, confession is good for our overall health, physical, emotional, and spiritual.
And this idea is found throughout the Scriptures, but nowhere as pronounced as when King David spoke about his experience.
He said, “When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.’ And you forgave the guilt of my sin.” (Psalm 32:3-5)
But to think that we can hide anything from the Lord, or to harbor secrets is a lost cause. Adam and Eve found this out, but Jesus makes it known for sure.
He said, “So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.” (Matthew 10:26-27)
And so, we’re only as sick as our secrets. Revealing our feelings is the beginning of our healing.
To end, let me quote from the Apostle James. “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” (James 5:16)
