Today’s 333 Devotional: “Living By Faith”
Sometimes we won’t know! This is something we need to settle in our hearts if we ever want to move forward in the fullness of what God has for our lives.
The Bible says that by faith Abraham left his home and country and traveled to a land he had little or no idea about. By faith he moved without rhyme or reason.
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” (Hebrews 11:8)
By faith we believe in the existence of God even though we cannot see or comprehend Him with our natural senses. And for this faith God richly rewards us.
“He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
Abraham lived by faith as defined as being the substance of what is hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).
Of Abraham is says, “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’” (Romans 4:18)
But modern man has a hard time wrapping their heads around this reality, even though they live by faith as well. Their faith is in the natural sciences, which has yet to explain humanity and the universe, whereas the Christian’s faith is in God, in whom we cannot see but know He exists and created it all.
Yes, science has done much helping in our everyday lives, but has done precious little in explaining the mysteries of the universe growing up a generation of mindless spiritual zombies instead of faith-filled spiritual giants.
“Let God be true, and every human being a liar. As it is written: ‘So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.’” (Romans 3:4)
