Thought for Today: “Building God’s Temple”
What is the Lord’s house that we should be building?
King David said, “Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God. Therefore, arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy articles of God into the house that is to be built for the name of the Lord.” (1 Chronicles 22:19)
Nehemiah in his answer to those who wanted to stop the work of rebuilding Jerusalem said, “The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build.” (Nehemiah 2:20)
Now, for those who come to faith in Jesus Christ, God builds His temple within each one. The Apostle Paul said that we are temples of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:16).
He goes on to say, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” (1 Corinthians 6:19)
So, let’s take King David’s advice and set our hearts and soul to seek after the Lord and to build up the temple of the living God within us.
How can this be done? Through the daily reading God’s word, prayer, and worship.
