Thought for Today: “What is Faithfulness?”
Faithfulness isn’t about how much you do, but rather it’s about how much God has you.
Being faithful is about remaining unswerving loyal to someone, something, or a truth. But it is more, it is also putting that loyalty into practice every day regardless of what may be going on around us, that is, regardless of our circumstances.
But, such faithfulness is, for the most part, impossible for us to maintain, and that is because of our natural or fleshly desires, not to mention pride. Yet, here is the good news, our ability to be faithful doesn’t totally depend on us.
God told to the high priest Eli, “I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who will do according to what is in my heart and mind.” (1 Samuel 2:35)
God would raise up Samuel, and God would mentor him in His will and ways, so that Samuel would be that faithful priest for God.
And so, when we hear Jesus’s question on when He returns will He find faith, or will He find us faithful (Luke 18:8), the answer is yes, not based upon our ability, but upon His calling.
