Thought for Today: “Safe In God”
To his dismay, David had mistakenly trusted in his prosperity, but then came the reality that only in God can we trust, only in God can we be safe. David had come through a harrowing sickness that just about took his life where all he had come to trust was gone. Thus, he cried out to God and the Lord healed him.
“O Lord my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.” (Psalm 30:2-3)
There is only one sure dwelling place for our souls, and that is in the heart of God. To dwell there is to then cease trusting in anything else including self and circumstances.
“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness” (Psalm 30:11).
