Thought for Today: “No Elbow Grease Required”
Peter Druker, known as the father of American Management, when asked how he became a Christian said, “When somebody first explained grace to me, I realized I was never going to get a better deal.”
Everything about the American way of life teaches that you get what you earn, there is no free lunch, and that you lie in the bed of your own making. And that’s because America is all about hard work and elbow grease.
Although there’s nothing wrong with this sort of ethic, the problem is that God doesn’t operate in accordance with it.
God’s plan involves His grace coupled with our faith.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
