Thought For Today: “Salvation Through Grace”
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).
In a nutshell, Paul’s saying that God’s grace is free, which is totally opposite of the way most people think. Most believe that they can get to heaven by being good or doing their best; that somehow their good deeds outweigh the bad.
But this is completely against God’s plan of salvation. God says that it is a free gift, and if it is a gift, it cannot be earned or worked for.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 3:8-9)
This runs contrary to other religions. Religion’s plan of salvation is about getting to heaven based upon what a person does, whereas Christianity is based solely upon grace, which is by faith, not works.
And so, our eternity is based upon God’s grace through our faith in Jesus Christ.
