Thought for Today: “An Attitude of Obedience”
To have the faith that saw Abraham willing to offer the ultimate sacrifice to God, his son, Isaac, we see an attitude of obedience Abraham possessed that pleased God.
When God told Abraham to sacrifice his son, Abraham didn’t say, “No way, he’s mine.” Instead, he said, “Yes Lord.” And from this we see three aspects of Abraham faith through obedience.
First, his obedience was immediate. It says that the next morning, Abraham started out on this journey of faith.
Second, his obedience was intentional. When Abraham left, he brought everything that was needed for the sacrifice.
Finally, his obedience was continual. The journey that Abraham took in obedience to God’s word took three days to make. And so, Abraham had three days to wake up and make the choice to obey.
To have the faith that Abraham had to make a healthy faith sacrifice we need to obey God’s word immediately, intentionally, and continually.
