Today’s 333 Devotional: “The Determining Factor”
In the parable of the sheep and the goats, Jesus taught about the coming judgment at the end of times. And one of the determining factors, outside our faith in Jesus Christ is in our service to others because in serving others we are actually serving God.
The teaching is found in Matthew chapter 25 in the parable of the sheep and goats.
Jesus said, “When I was hungry and thirsty you gave me something to eat and drink. And when I was naked and sick you clothed and took care of me. And when I was a stranger you invited me in, and when I was in prison you came to visit.”
The people asked, “When did we do this for you Lord,” and He replied, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”
It is in our service to others that we serve God. This is how God created us. It’s a part of our spiritual DNA.
The Apostle Paul said, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)
God designed us with a unique temperament, personality, and capabilities. Each of us is different and unique in order to fulfill God’s purpose while we are still alive on this side of death.
But to work properly we need each other. We need to be a part of the body of Christ, the church. We also we need to be plugged into God Himself who works within us His will and purpose in order to effect a godly change in the world around us.
And so let the light of Jesus shine through your uniqueness so that God will be glorified.
Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
