Thought For Today: “Our Sufficient Refuge and Strength”
No matter what is going on around us and in this world, what always need to remember is that no matter what has happened, or no matter what will happen, God is our refuge and strength in the midst of life’s storms.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear. Even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling.” (Psalm 46:1-3)
King David, who was no stranger to troubles and trials in this life, is saying that even in the worst disaster we can possibly imagine, God is all-sufficient to meet whatever our need may be, so we don’t need be terrified or afraid.
Whatever personal catastrophe we face, whether it is a major health problem, the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, emotional problems, relational conflicts, or whatever, God is bigger than our problems.
Further, what this also indicates that nothing takes the Lord by surprise, and there is nothing that has happened that is outside of God’s purview and knowledge.
