Today’s 333 Devotional: “Circumstances Change, God Doesn’t”
Trust in the certainty of God, and not the circumstances of life.
While everything around us is going crazy, the one thing we can count on is the consistency and constancy of God.
The Lord said, “I am the Lord, I do not change.” (Malachi 3:6a) And the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
Therefore, we need to encourage ourselves in these truths.
If God doesn’t change and always remains the same, then we can trust in Him and His promises even though circumstances may dictate otherwise.
Yet, we still doubt.
We believe in God and how He did great and mighty things, but we have a problem believing it for our lives.
God is not only God of the past, nor is He only the God of the future, but He is the same God right here and now, and is looking for those whose hearts are steadfast and believe.
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9)
God wants us to fix our hearts upon Him and quit allowing the circumstances of life to blow us out of the water.
David wasn’t one of those fair weathered believers. When things didn’t go his way he didn’t allow his faith to get blown away. The seed of God’s faithfulness was planted deep within the good soil of his heart.
In Psalm 57 David talks about those whose sole purpose was to eat him alive. But he also talked about God’s saving grace, and then makes this statement, “My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise.” (Psalm 57:7)
No matter what assailed him, David heart was fixed upon God and not upon the circumstances. Therefore, let’s trust in the certainty of God and not the circumstances of life.
