Don’t Limit Yourself

Today’s 333 Devotional: “Don’t Limit Yourself”

Don’t allow the circumstances of life to stop you from fulfilling God’s plan and purpose for your life. You may feel as if you don’t have it within you, and that you don’t have what it takes, either the strength or resources, to fulfill God’s calling.

The Apostle Paul felt the same way, but he never allowed it to stop him. Paul never let his limits to limit the call of God.

He said, “As much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.” (Romans 1:15)

Paul realized his limited resources. He acknowledged it had been his desire to come to Rome earlier to preach the gospel, but was hindered from doing so (Romans 1:13). Beyond that Paul was also limited by his health. This he talked about in his second letter to the church in Corinth.

“Lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.” (2 Corinthians 12:7)

But Paul never let his limitations limit him from God’s purpose and plan. He knew the strength to do these things didn’t lie within him. He knew that the strength to accomplish God’s calling didn’t lie within his own strength or ability, but rather it lay in the power of God at work inside of him.

He said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

We need to understand that we don’t have to be at the top of our game, nor have everything we want in order to fulfill God’s plan and purpose. All God wants and desires is a willing heart, because it’s not about us, rather it is all about Jesus alive within us.

God wants our availability more than our ability, and then and only then can He use our limitations to fulfill His kingdom purposes.
