God Wants Us Healed

Today’s 333 Devotional: “God Wants Us Healed”

People are adept at putting on faces, fronts, or false facades. But the truth is that people are hurting in so many ways. Some people are in need of peace, lonely people are in need of relationships, people without hope are in desperate need of hope, and sick people are in need of a healing.

People are hurting in a variety of different ways. They may be financially in debt due to loss of job or due to our current recession. They may be emotionally scarred due to some past trauma. They may have a physical ailment due to disease or illness. They may have suffered a loss of a friend or loved one. Their family relationship may be strained to the breaking point. Or they may just be discouraged and exhausted due to living in this world.

But there is hope.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

Now, Jesus may not heal immediately every problem, hurt, or need. In fact Jesus promised that in this world we will have these sorts of trials, but that since He has overcome this world, this should bring great joy to our hearts.

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

God can heal immediately and miraculously, but He may also give us the power to endure and triumph over the difficultly, problem, or trial while still in it.

Devine healing is all about becoming well, but healing in the Bible isn’t becoming what we were, rather it is becoming all the God intends for us to be.
