Today’s 333 Devotional: “Show and Tell”
The Great Commission says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
We could rephrase this and say, “Go show and tell what Jesus has done for you.”
This is what Jesus told one man who was so bad off he had to live bound and chained in the local cemetery. After Jesus healed him of demonic possession He said, “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.’ And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.” (Luke 8:39)
The command to evangelize begins in our own homes, and then extends to our neighbors and community. This is what this man did, and he was best suited for it. While the community rejected Jesus asking him to go away, they couldn’t deny what happened to one of their own.
We all have a wonderful opportunity that no one else has. We have the opportunity to go and tell those who know us about what Jesus Christ has done for us, how He saved and delivered us.
Evidently the man did tell the story. He gave his personal testimony of that Jesus had done for him because within 100 years this area boasted one of the largest churches in the world; all because one man whose life had been changed was willing to tell his story.
Are you telling your story? This is what Jesus has called for us to do. He doesn’t ask us to work miracles or to change lives; He takes care of all of that. What He asks us to do is to go show and tell others what He has done for us.
