Evil is Mighty But God is Almighty

Today’s 333 Devotional: “Evil is Mighty But God is Almighty”

This is our assurance in the dark days ahead. Yes evil is flourishing, but God’s plans are greater and will see us through until the end.

This is seen in the angel’s proclamation to the women who went to the tomb of Jesus. A great earthquake shook both the ground and their hearts. But the angel said, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.” (Matthew 28:5-6)

Evil was mighty, but God is Almighty and what He said would happen, happened.

Satan thought that Jesus was finished, dead and buried. Satan thought he had stopped this movement and thwarted the plans of God. Satan thought he was mighty, but forgot that God is Almighty.

Jesus rose from the dead as He promised. Jesus said that while He would suffer many things, be rejected and killed, three day later He would rise again (Mark 8:31).

We face a mighty foe in Satan and his demonic horde. We are told that we do not fight against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness, and spiritual hosts of wickedness, and that Satan has a specific strategy that he has drawn up and is using against us (Ephesian 6:11-12).

But Jesus rose from the dead, just as He said, and wins over the evil plans set by Satan. In fact, all of the promises of God to us in Christ are assured.

“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Satan may go around like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8), but that’s all he’s got left, his roar.

God’s plan is for us to get this message out to everyone with no more delay. So let’s not be afraid anymore, because while evil may be mighty, God is Almighty and has conquered.
