Today’s 333 Devotional: “By Faith Cry Out”
Don’t let others silence your cry of faith. No matter how well meaning they may be, don’t allow your voice to be silenced in crying out to God.
When Jesus was on his way to Jericho there was a blind man begging by the side of the road. When he heard that Jesus was passing by he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Luke 18:38)
Those around him told him to be quiet, but it says that he just kept crying out.
Jesus heard and called for him asking, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The man replied, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.” Jesus said, “Receive your sight: your faith has made you well.” Immediately the man received his sight and followed Jesus giving glory to God. (Luke 18:39-43)
Keep crying out to God. There will be others who will tell you to keep quiet. They’ll say God can’t be bothered, or that He isn’t into doing this or that. Don’t believe them. Keep crying out until you hear God speak to your heart. Keep crying out until you receive insight. It may be that God will answer yes, but then again He may answer “no,” or “not right now.”
The important thing is that we hear from God.
So keep crying out to God. Jesus told us to be like the persistent widow who came daily to the courthouse asking the judge for justice until he gave it to her.
Jesus said, “Shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:7-8)
Have faith and believe God will answer.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)
