Today’s 333 Devotional: “Don’t Compromise God’s Promises”

God promised not only to deliver Israel from their Egyptian bondage, but also to deliver them into the Promised Land, His promise for them.

“For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.” (Exodus 32:31b)

And while it wasn’t a cakewalk, God promised, and what God promises He fulfills.

Joshua said, “And you know … that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed.”

Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?”

But God wanted to make sure they wouldn’t compromise His promised deliverance by honoring and making agreements with those outside the faith lest His people turn away from Him.

He said, “You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.” (Exodus 23:32-33)

Nehemiah instinctively understood this. When faced with the daunting task of rebuilding the wall, something promised by God, but seemed impossible in human terms, they began the rebuilding process. But soon they meet with resistance from the other inhabitants of the land; those who didn’t believe and who were opposed to the faith.

But Nehemiah wouldn’t compromise and answered, “The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem.” (Nehemiah 2:20)

Whatever God has promises; move into by with faith believing God for the impossible. But don’t compromise your faith or God’s word in doing so.

Remember, things that are impossible with men are possible with God.
