Today’s 333 Devotional: “Trust In God’s Promises”
God’s promises are different from the promises given by humanity and human governments, because God’s promises are never exhausted.
Humanity’s promises are like a mountain stream that flows when there’s been snow, but then dries up in the summer. At best humanity’s promises are seasonal.
But God’s promises are like a never-ending stream of water that continues to deliver year around.
Joshua knew this to be true. He said, “Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” (Joshua 23:14)
God not only makes promises, He also has the power and ability to keep them.
God will always be with you.
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5; Hebrews 13:5)
God will be your strength.
The Apostle Paul said God is faithful and will strengthen and protect you (2 Thessalonians 3:3). Therefore, Paul declared, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
God will pour out the Holy Spirit upon you.
Quoting the prophet Joel, Peter said, “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people … Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:17, 38)
And Jesus promised He would come again.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:1-3)
