Thought For Today: The Importance of Abiding

Abiding in Christ is of supreme importance. This is seen in Jesus’ teaching of the vine and branches (John 15:1-17).

It directly affects our work and responsibilities.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

It directly affects our eternal life.

“If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.” (John15:6)

It directly affects our communication with God.

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” (John 15:7)

The more we share in Jesus’ life, and the more we allow him to share in ours, then the more we’ll enjoy the full benefits of abiding as we tap into His protection, strength, guidance, and fellowship.
